Sharing Access to NFSN Sites¶
As noted in the NFSN index and NFSN policies, you may not share login information or user accounts. Instead, if you wish to invite another person to access a site or sites hosted by NFSN, you can do this in one of two ways.
For the person receiving access¶
Register for a NFSN membership at nearlyfreespeech.net/signup/signup
Use your real, legal name.
Set your membership type to Baseline membership.
Confirm your email address and set a password at nearlyfreespeech.net/signup/confirm, using the confirmation code you received in your email.
Give your Member Login Name to the person who wants to share resources with you.
For the person sharing access¶
You can share access in two different ways, sharing an account or giving adjunct access to a site.
Adjunct access to a site gives the recipient SSH and SFTP access to the specific site, but does not give the recipient any edit access through the web portal. This option is best if you have someone who needs to update website content, but does not need to change any settings about the site. For example, if someone wanted direct access to update the files for this handbook (which is actually managed by CI), you could share adjunct access for the
figure13-prod01site.Sharing an account gives the recipient nearly identical access to yours through SSH, SFTP, and the web portal, to all sites managed under that payment account. This option is best for sharing with another admin, someone who needs access to add/change/remove aliases, etc. For example, if a user needed to add aliases to the
figure13-prod01site, you could share access to thefigure13-mainaccount.
